Restaurant Maison Phayatdai in Montreal

Having been to Thailand, I can say that this genuinely tastes the most authentic - with few exceptions. We ordered the pad Thai, pad sew, chicken satays, papaya salad and the yellow peanut chicken curry. Everything was delicious. The curry in particular is out of this world and I definitely recommend getting that. Everything was very fresh and you could taste that in each bite of the papaya salad - which is almost as spicy as the ones we had in Thailand, so I’ll give a nod to them on that one. The pad Thai (I ordered shrimp) was an umami bomb. Really great balance of seasoning and flavour. And I appreciate that they didn’t use ketchup - you can tell when a place uses tamarind. And that they didn’t skimp on the fish sauce. Delicious. It’s a little pricey, which is the only downside, to be fair. For two appetizers and three mains it came to $100 with tax and tip. Not awful by any means, but definitely more costly than thailand haha.

Phayathai is what all your asian wet dreams are all about. From frog legs to amazing classics, your every visit sure ends with a happy ending - a full satisfaction.

One of the best meals I’ve ever had. Not a huge fan of Thai food but seriously can’t wait to go back here. Definitely recommend the chicken dumplings and crispy garlic shrimp.

It is very seldom that I am at a loss for words but I will try my best to describe my experience. I want to say if you are looking for authentic Thai food there is no where else you need to go then Maison Phayathai, I have visited my fair share of real Thai restaurants but this by far is the most authentic, exuberant, savory Thai food I have ever had in my life. From the appetizers to the main courses, everything I tasted sent my taste buds on a journey. If you are looking for delectable real Thai food, this gem is right in the middle of Montreal. They say hole in the wall restaurants are the best, but this place is a hole into another flavorful universe.

Simple, authentic, inexpensive superb food. Nice staff. My go to in Montreal when I want a great meal that won’t cost 150$/per person.

The food is always fresh, good and hot. Never been disappointed.

It’s been open for years now and it’s still amazing! I hadn’t been in a while and I thought it wouldn’t taste the same but they are so consistently good! I took the sweet Chili shrimps and ❤️❤️❤️. It doesn’t look like much from outside but it’s a must go if your downtown!

I go to this excellent restaurant once a month since I love the ambiance that is outline this restaurant. The crew is awfuly loving and qualified. The service is deeply fast. Also, the food you get is outstanding. I visited often and I was always delighted. The price is decent. I recommend this restaurant to my friends and family.

I really want to go back to Phayathai, it felt like a wonderfully authentic Thai experience. (Not that I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing one!) Note: make reservations, this is not the restaurant you can go on the spur of the moment... if you are lucky (like I was!) you might be able to get a table but every single other time I’ve tried to go without reservations I wasn’t able to get a table.

Delicious food and excellent service at a very reasonable price. Cozy dining area. I highly recommend this restaurant.

It was the best Thai restaurant we’ve ever been! We went there twice during our stay in Montreal, and we will definitely go there the next time when we‘re in the city. The staff is very friendly and the service is excellent. We have no words for the food...it‘s overwhelming.

Tried to get a table but opted for take out because of how busy it was. The guy I ordered from was really cool. Great customer service. The red curry was good. The fish cakes were awesome tho. Thought I didn't like fish cakes but my wife insisted. They were very good. Over all the food was pretty good. Would have been nice to get a table

Great and authentic lemongrass soup. Sauteed veggies with peanut sauce were also tasty and fresh. Chicken fried rice was good but not outstanding.

Overall it was an ok experience. The food was very good. Everyone enjoyed their dish shrimp red curry and chicken green curry among others. The owner/manager is very eager to please however is in a frantic rush that makes you in a rush as well. And of course when in a rush dish modifications get overlooked. Prices are reasonable however main dishes do not come with rice so add 2.50 for comparison. The menu is extensive.

Everything is spot on. Amazing flavors, it will hit you so good that you will feel elevated. My only negative was that the table was directly next to the bathroom which is a No-No in the restaurant buisness 101.

I am always impressed with the high quality of the dishes and the great and smiley service in this small hidden jewel just a few steps from Guy Concordia subway station. I know for a fact that after you try the subtleties of the rich and exotic flavours (coconut milk, citronelle, green papaya, galangal) of this refined Thai cuisine you will dream of your next visit to Maison Phayathai. My favorite dishes: the Seafood, galangal & coconut milk soup (TOM KHA TALAY), the BBQ duck in red curry & coconut milk (KENG PHED PED YANG) and the Chicken in peanut sauce & crispy spinach (KAI PHAD SATAY). I am counting the hours to return!

We came here for dinner. It's not crowded. The food is nice but the portion is huge- we have red curry with rice and a Pad Thai. We could only finished half the Pad Thai. The waiters are friendly.

Service is incredible. The staff is very friendly and they take good care of you. Food and portions are out of this world!

Really enjoyed our visit here. The staff are courteous and attentive. Better yet, the food is delicious - you must try the duck.

The best pad thai I've had in a long time! I was very satisfied, a little on the pricey side but worth it. I requested hottest I could get but it was still on the mild side. Also very nice atmosphere inside. Only critique is the limited drink menu.

This restaurant is absolutely exceptional! From the inviting warmth and romantic ambience to the delicious food, the place is worth stopping by! Slightly on the pricier side, but the food quality blows away and each dish is an explosion of flavours. Will most definitely be coming back and would recommend to anyone visiting Montreal.

Been meaning to try this place and finally did for a friends birthday. And i am so happy we did. The service was great and anything that was missing they remedied quickly with kind prompt service. Food was tasty and really worth trying different dishes to get a good taste and idea of what they have to offer. I loved the coconut green seafood curry as its the perfect little mix between cozy, rich and light meal. And obviously the undeniable papaya salad which i can never get enough of. Tons for leftovers for everyone at the table. Taste is quite authentic and heat is toned down according to your taste buds. Will definitely go again, preferable to make reservations as its a small restaurant and gets packed quickly in the evening.

Absolutely loved this place. The owner of the restaurant and the waiters were extremely friendly. I ordered chicken skewers and veggie spring rolls for appetizers and for the main course I ordered the Thai basil dish with chicken, egg on top and sticky rice, it was delicious to say the least. The owner of the restaurant even served us a round of shots when we got there - super generous and friendly folks at Maison Phayathai. I'd highly recommend. 10/10👍🏼

Loved the place and the ambiance! Despite we didn’t had reservation, staff accommodated us. We had veg green curry, portion was too much to have, we loved it. Veg Imperial rolls were good but not great... would surely love to visit them again!

If you want amazing Thai cuisine combined with amazing service and staff, this is a must place to go to. Very highly recommend this place. Definitely in my top 3 choices.

What a great experience I had last night.The food and drinks were just espetacular!!!!The service was even better. Talina was taking care of us and she is amazing. She was very professional and had this warm smile that is hard to find out there.Easy access from the metro, you can have convos without having to scream and it is very affordable ($).I extremely recommended the duck bbq!

Most authentic Thai food we had in Montreal. It reminded me of my family trip in Thailand!I heard that they are certified by the Royal Thai Consulate!

Really enjoyed the evening, we ordered 6 dishes, all yummyy but not spicy enough for our liking, so if you're into spicy food, ask 'thai-level', they'll add lotss of chilli. Girl waiter seemed to be on her pms, no smile n got irritated when i took 3 seconds more to confirm my order; she was "Well what do you want then??" Okk calm down there :-p

Authentic Thai dishes, food is very flavourful! I'm glad we found this spot while in Montreal, it was definitely worth it. Owners were very kind to us and treated us well!

We arrived this restaurant around noon. There were two or three tables taken but in less than ten minutes the restaurant was filled. This absolutely indicated to us that we picked a right place for lunch. We ordered chicken curry and basil pork. The curry is full of flavor and aromatic but we are disappointed with the basil pork. It is just not as good and fresh as the one we had in Sydney, Australia.

The food was not particularly amazing but good. The eggplant dish was lacking in a few spices was quite watered down. Nevertheless, the other dishes definitely deserve a taste!

I loved this place. I lived in Montreal for 10 years and never knew this place existed! Cozy, homey, small and quaint, this place serves delicious curries and Thai specialities. It's exactly my type of restaurant. It seems family run, with authentic recipes, and affordable prices for huge portions. The only thing I would have liked to see is a set menu deal where we could try different dishes. As I always go with my husband, there is always a small limited amount of dishes we can physically eat. In this occasion, we had the beef green curry, beef with Thai basil and pad see ew, with the spring rolls as an appetizer. Very highly recommended!!

I have been coming to this restaurant for five years now, it is peaceful with terrific food. I am always satisfied with a full stomach as soon as I leave this place!

Nice service in a cosy Thai restaurant. Food was good but not excellent. I found a lot of the dishes to be too sweet.
